Puurs staff canteen
Description
For a staff canteen in Puurs, we created a bespoke catering kitchen. The kitchen is situated as a box-in-box within a large space, as part of the factory extension. Despite the limited floor space, the canteen can serve large numbers of staff efficiently. The project was completed in less than seven months: from initial contact at the end of November to handover in June.

Design and approach
This staff canteen was built according to the box-in-box principle. The kitchen was built in as a separate unit within a large space inside the factory. As the kitchen is situated in an open-plan area, fire safety was a key consideration in the design. We had previously applied the same principle at the AP Campus in Hallen, which also featured a catering kitchen.
The design focuses on maximum capacity within a limited floor area. A bespoke hob with built-in induction hobs keeps the layout compact.
The lead time was short. Initial contact was made at the end of November, and the kitchen was completed in June.
Kitchen fittings & appliances
In a compact kitchen, every appliance had to earn its place. For hot food preparation, we fitted a Convotherm combi-oven and a bespoke hob with built-in induction hobs. Samaref provided the refrigeration and freezer units. For the display, we installed display cabinets from Ideal AKE and a bain-marie from Alto-Shaam. The washing-up area was fitted with a Electrolux Professional dishwasher.
