Commercial kitchen equipment – what do you need?

From ovens and hobs to extractor hoods – which appliances or equipment should you include in your commercial kitchen?

Commercial kitchens and appliances tailored to your needs

A commercial kitchen in a school, a hospital, a care home or a business… we recognise that every commercial kitchen must be able to meet different requirements and needs, which is why the necessary equipment varies from one commercial kitchen to another. For example, in schools we more often see a serving counter with a refrigerated display case, whilst in hospitals, storing food in the correct refrigerators or freezers is very important. Restaurants, on the other hand, need the right hobs and ovens to be able to conjure up dishes and serve them simultaneously.

The cold or hot side of the commercial kitchen

Every kitchen has a cold section for preparing salads, cold side dishes and garnishes. But even more important in most commercial kitchens is the hot side: Industrial cookers, hobs and ovens form the backbone of the kitchen.

To fully meet the needs of the kitchen team, these machines and appliances come in various sizes and designs. Will you opt for an electric hob, an induction hob or a gas hob? Or how about extra features such as a built-in grill or an oven with a steam function ? It all depends on the speed at which dishes need to be prepared and the capacity the kitchen needs to handle.

Large-capacity commercial cooker hood

In an industrial or professional commercial kitchen, it goes without saying that the right extraction system above the cooking area is essential. A professional extractor hood in a commercial kitchen with sufficient capacity ensures a pleasant and healthier working environment.

An industrial extractor hood is specifically designed to deliver high performance over the long term, which is crucial in restaurants, hotels and other catering establishments where cooking is carried out intensively.

Opting for a professional extractor system in the kitchen helps to prevent excessive heat and moisture build-up. Furthermore, modern extractor systems for commercial kitchens often comply with the strictest hygiene and fire safety standards. A good extractor hood in a commercial kitchen not only extends the lifespan of the equipment but also saves on energy costs.

Food storage with the right refrigeration and freezer units

To cater for all dietary requirements, for example in care homes as well as in schools or businesses, it is important to be able to store sufficient food safely.

In addition to fridges and freezers (often walk-in units for extra space), commercial kitchens are also frequently equipped with refrigerated workbenches. These are ideal for keeping ingredients fresh whilst preparing meals.

Dishwashers and rinsers for cleaning kitchen equipment

In a commercial kitchen, hygiene is one of the top priorities. That is why industrial dishwashers are a must-have. They are the ideal way to clean large quantities of crockery quickly. A good washing system and a professional dishwasher are essential, particularly during peak times such as lunchtimes in businesses and schools or in the evenings in restaurants.

Professional mixers and food processors

From dough mixers to food processors, these appliances take over much of the heavy and time-consuming manual work involved in preparing large quantities of food. They are essential for the efficient preparation of all kinds of dishes or of the ingredients that form the basis of certain dishes, such as bread dough, sauces and dressings.
